Five of Cups

November is always a potent month being that it is the only month which is automatically a Master Number, the 11.  It also coincides with deep Sun in Scorpio and the “dark time of the year”.  During 2011 it is also a Universal 6, so this month is an 11/6.  November is a very spiritual time which begs us to dig deep and see what really exists within ourselves, our lives, and our relationships.  Scorpio is about secrets, sex, deep-rooted emotions, and death.  It is associated with the Scorpion which has not only defensive claws out front but a killer stinger you won’t even see coming!   Being in November with the 11 influence, it is a time when honest communication and the big reveal of secrets hidden come to the forefront.  Also, here in the US we celebrate Thanksgiving and so it is a time when we look beyond the personal struggles we may face and reach for humanity and thankfulness for the “what is” in our lives.  It begins the season in which we step outside of ourselves and reach out to one another with a helping, loving hand and offer our kindness, compassion and cooperation.

You may be experiencing overwhelming awareness of your own mortality and find yourself seeking your place in the world.  Indulge these thoughts for a time, but try not to get too caught up in them.  It is, however, useful to make changes for the better: live life fully, laugh a little louder, gaze a little longer, and take more chances!

This November is even more about community, service and relationships than usual because of the added influence of the 6.  There is HUGE focus on our relationships (work, family, personal, romantic, etc.), home and family and honest communication.  Of course, Mercury is turning Retrograde this month (on the 24th) which can put a bit of a damper on things.  People are highly sensitive this month, so be aware.  Ideally we should getting holiday shopping done early as to avoid the mishaps of Mercury Retrograde, but at the very least if you are doing any ordering online or making large purchases, be sure to do your research and get your order in early (lest it be delayed).  Fortunately, this trend ends on the 13th of December, which leaves a chance for those last minute shoppers to be in the clear.

The cards for this month suggest that we are all in a place of throwing our hands up and letting things happen on their own.  It is time to accept that some things ARE out of our control and all you can do is go along for the ride.  This month there are many opportunities arising, or simply a great deal of movement, and you have to think on the fly and roll with the punches.  Do the best you can to make informed decisions, sometimes there is time and sometimes you just have to wing it and accept the potential consequences later.  The Hanged Man reminds us to be patient and to let things happen on their own, while the Chariot warns us that we may be careening out of control while life comes flying at us.  The Five of Cups sees us mourning our losses as the life we once knew begins to transform before our eyes, but it begs us to see what we still have left.  This is where we need to focus on being thankful and appreciative of what we have and of what may be right around the bend for us that we are yet to see.  Everything happens for a reason and it seems to me that all of this personal struggle will see us through to a much better future than we thought possible.  Do your best not to dwell on loss and change, and when possible seek what is familiar in your life and brings you comfort.

 

If I had to summarize November I would say that we are seeking our place in the world and discovering who we are and what we bring to the table.  It requires much contemplation and trial and error.  We must accept the present moment, even as it is changing.  Keep moving forward and let the past be the past while trying to keep an open mind for the new and unexpected.  Life doesn’t always look the way we had hoped it would, but for better or worse, it is ours for the making.  Yes, making.  We have made choices that brought us where we are and we need to step up to the plate and take our best shot with what we have been given.  It is time to cut our losses and accept our status quo, mourn and move on.  Even when the changes are positive it can be difficult to accept, so even then there is a sense of mourning and letting go.  Allow yourself time to process whatever it is that you are feeling.

December Numerology

I’m back on board here with December’s Numerology Forecast, I apologize for skipping November…

December is a 3/6 month with a 12 influence, it suggests family and community will be important during this time, which makes sense with the holiday season.  The 1 and 2 remind us that there is a time to stand your ground and a time to work together.   And with Mercury Retrograde most of the month (beginning on the 10th) it would be wise to hold your tongue and think before you speak lest you be misunderstood.  For some of us the month will bring out insecurities and uncertain feelings while for others it will be a time to shine!  The 3 can really be very optimistic, creative and social although in its worst it can warn us of coming drama, disagreements and the three-is-a-crowd dynamic reigns.  This month will not be a good time (for most) to begin something new, but instead to go back to the drawing board and make sure that your plans are aligning with what is currently possible, work the kinks out.

Also interesting for this month is a Lunar Eclipse on the 21st (in Gemini) and on January 4th we have a Solar Eclipse (in Capricorn) and while the effects of eclipses are often felt for 6 months before and after, the energy spikes during the event.  Gemini rules communication, thought, and duality (plus its ruling planet is Mercury) so there is a double whammy to our communications this month, hopefully it will lead to new outcomes in old arguments and a wonderful new understanding of one-another.  Use this opportunity to gain information and wait before making new decisions or signing important paper-work until all of the facts are in.  The Solar Eclipse will bring the focus to career and finances.  Between the two, you will likely make contacts who can help you on your path to a fulfilling career, and going back to school is a wonderful way to utilize the energy available.  What would you like to change about your current job?  What does your ideal career/lifestyle look like?  How do you feel in your career?  How do you communicate with loved ones, co-workers, friends and how could you improve on negative tendencies?  What would you like to release at this time in regards to communication, thought patterns, arguments, financial difficulties, career, etc.?

Use this powerful time to make changes as we move into the 4 energy of the year 2011.  We shift from overindulgence and spend-thrift tendencies to a more balance-conscious year filled with patience and hard work.   This year is a necessary step in the development of the ideas you set of in pursuit of in 2007/2008 (or in your last Personal One Year).  This is your chance to step up to the plate and follow through by building a strong foundation on which to make real your aspirations.  The Universe says, “Sure, you want the idea of it, the excitement of the out of reach, but when it comes down to it are you willing to put in the time and the work to make it happen?  Prove it!”  Can you persist despite obstacles?  Do you posses the willpower and the drive to follow through even without immediate results?  If you can, the coming year will bring future prosperity and bring you one step closer to realizing your goals.

A financial opportunity presents itself this month and it is up to you to cultivate it.  Ideas often come in and out during Mercury Retrograde, so be sure to keep a journal to jot down or sketch them for future reference.  This is a time of foreshadowing so pay attention to what seems irrelevant at this time, it may just be your next pursuit!

Mercury Retrograde in Virgo

It’s about that time again, for Mercury to take its backwards jaunt across our skies and muss things up a bit!  OK, well, it isn’t so much that it musses things up, so much as we often fight its message: Tie up your loose ends!

This month it retrogrades in Virgo, a sign it rules (it also rules Gemini) so for us Virgos and you Geminis there will be a certain potency to this time as it is calling you most of all.  This can also be true for those with Virgo/Gemini as a Rising sign or Moon sign, or even prominent in your chart.

So, our lovely little planet of communication is moving backwards, what does it mean exactly?  Well, it effects each person a little differently depending on where it appears in your chart, but in a nutshell the basic way to approach any Mercury Retrograde is to meditate, slow down and rethink things.  This is generally not a time for bold new ideas that you must put into action TODAY, it is more about going back to the drawing board and picking up the pieces of where you left off before moving forward.  This is not to say that you cannot ever begin something in a Mercury Retrograde, rather you should be aware that it may present special challenges:  there will be some sort of delay, some new information and a change of plans, or getting in over your head, and these same difficulties will often arise at the following MR, and the one after that, until there is resolution.  Normally opportunities that come up during this time prove to be a test for you, do you have all of your ducks in a row–because this is not the time to take a blind leap of faith, this is the time to be prepared and well researched!

Mercury Retrograde is often the most talked about of the planetary retrogrades because it happens every 3-4 months, and that means that sometimes (as with this year) we have FOUR Mercury Rx’s in one year!  Communication has grown and shifted with each new generation, offering new technology and means in which to communicate information:  letters, computers, telephones, cell phones, texting, email, all of which have been known to go awry during these time periods.  So, back up your computer, and choose your words carefully because it is an easy time to be misunderstood.  The biggest mistake we make in Mercury Retrograde (time and time again) is to ASSUME, or rather make an ASS out of U and ME.  For some reason we choose to short-cut around conversation, assuming that the other party is on the same page, and they assume that they are on the same page, and when it comes time to deliver; you were definitely NOT on the same page.   So, check your notes and be sure to speak clearly and directly.

When it comes to relationships, we often hit rocky periods during this time, as mentioned above the assumptions we make can lead to arguments, but also this time period is often wrought with self-esteem and insecurity issues.  We just can’t seem to think clearly, we may be running late for work or get stood up, or get a message that we simply take the wrong way, or we are left feeling misunderstood as if you just stuck your foot in your mouth!  It can be a viscous cycle when we begin to over analyze (yes, Virgo, I’m talking to You) and this can be the main peril of Mercury gone awry.

So, Jasmin, what can I do to survive this time? Remember the key elements of Mercury Rx:

Delay, delay, delay; accept that things may not go as you’ve planned; beware of communication mishaps and assumptions; get back to the drawing board and tie up loose ends; build proper foundations; new information comes in; insecurities run high, so be sure to clear the air; check in, think before you speak and speak clearly; back up your computer and try to communicate less via technology; leave early and keep your sense of humor about you!

Some of the most ridiculous things can happen during Mercury Retrograde and it really is laughable when it comes down to it…at first it is kind of silly, then almost painful to watch and then in the grand ridiculousness of it all your only option is to laugh.  Mercury is a friend of Irony and abides by a law called Murphy; so, when Life’s crazy idiosyncrasies happen, just laugh at yourself and smile at the Universe’s sense of humor.

May Numerology

Well, I suppose it stands true to say that April showers bring May flowers, because in April there was a lot of delay (and surprises) within each effort put forth, and a change of plan was certainly in order, here in May our fruits of labor truly begin to blossom.  Mercury goes Direct beginning May 11th although we still feel the Retrograde effects for a few more weeks, we’ll begin coming out of the confusion and delays of last month in the first week of May.  This month is always a FIVE (since it is the fifth month  in our calendar) but this THREE year brings the month of May to an EIGHT, so change and karma are in order.  If you are focusing on career, business, or finances at this time expect change, be sure to go with the flow during this mutable time.  8 is also the number of karma, so what goes around comes around this month, whatever you have been working on (career, relationships, self) you will reap what you have sown so if you’ve been focused and driven you should see a wonderful return, but if you have not been putting forth much effort, well, you get what you put in.

Spin the Wheel of Fortune and Fate this month, take chances and try a new approach as the end of May approaches.  This month is fluid and changeable, and remember that we still feel Mercury’s Retrograde effects, so do your best to research and prepare, tie up those loose ends so when it goes Direct on the 11th you are ready to roll with the punches.

Surprises are in order, so don’t be too shocked if you get a job offer in another city/state, or you may pack up and take an unexpected trip, or maybe your car needs a tune-up (no one wants THAT kind of surprise, eh?).   There is a fork in the road this month, prepare the best you can!

April Showers…

Welcome to Spring, here in the Northern Hemisphere and greetings to the Zodiac New Year as well!   Ah, Sun in Aries bringing with it some forward motion, until of course, Mercury goes Retrograde.  This month will prove to be  a little difficult, try to keep your course, but be open to the new information you will be receiving.  Obstacles may momentarily block your way, but use that extra time to make sure things are taking the course you want them to.  Spend time reading this month, either pick up a new book series, or start looking into those things you always wanted to learn about but never got around to!  Also, again for those in business or making a transition of some sort (moving, traveling, upgrading or a promotion) be sure to get all the information before you make your decision, or be prepared to learn about something a little too late.  You may gain recognition for a job well done during this time.

This month expect to work hard, whether you are working on your self or on the job.  Relationships may be a bit difficult at this time because your attention is needed elsewhere (work, self-reflection, reading, rethinking plans, etc.) so be sure to make some time for that special someone so they know that they are important to you, too.  You must work hard and follow through this month, you have the groundwork laid so now you need to make it happen!  There may be some cracks in the foundation which arise, be sure to focus on those first before trying to move forward.  Remember, this is not a favorable time for starting something you just came up with, only for restarting or refining something else that was in the works.  If you MUST start something now, just be aware of mini-malfunctions, faulty communications, and delays, often times things begun in a Mercury Rx take 1-3 more Mercury Rx’s to come into fruition (keeping in mind that Mercury Rxs–or appears to move backwards) about every 3 months and the little planet rules communication, thought processes, information and therefore electronics as well.

With Sun in Aries you may really feel like leaping before you look, but I’ll just leave that one up to you!

With the 7 influence AND Pluto moving Retrograde, it’s time to DIG DEEP into your self and clear out all the muck, but first we have to see it for what it really is.  Look at yourself, do you like what you’ve been seeing lately?  What are some ways of being that you should really consider shedding?  This is a tough month with much difficult work in store, be prepared for a complete overhaul in coming months, the hard work you do now will be sure to pay off.

Happy New(merology) Year!

What a brilliant start to the New Year we have!  This evening is sure to be transformational on many levels…

First off there is a full moon in Cancer which will be eclipsed tonight, Wax On Wax Off time!  Between this, and the powerful ending (9) that we will be experiencing today, and the transformative (5) energy of tomorrow, I would use this time wisely to let go of that which no longer serves you and make room for the wonderful things to come your way.  Reflect tonight on this year and those before it and experience a letting go or emptying of your cup, and make way for a surprising change tomorrow.  This new year expect lots of change and exciting energy about, especially considering the first day of it brings a transformation, to me this sets the tone for the entire year. 

January itself is a 4 which is about hard work and perseverance, keeping focused on your goals and staying on track despite minor upsets/setbacks.  Keep in mind that this January has the influence of Mercury Retrograde so this will be a time of reflection and going back to the drawing board for that which you have already set into motion.  This is not a favorable time to start a completely new project flying by the seat of your pants, this is a time of planning, although it IS a favorable time in which to start something new which has been in the works in the last few months.  Often times in the Rx (Retrograde) of Mercury you will pick up a project which you began in the previous Retrograde, so if you began something new in September-ish 2009 you will be revisiting this and making headway.  The rule of thumb is to not sign any contracts or make any large purchases since there will either be a falling-out or a delay in the processing/paperwork/follow-through/etc.  Mercury rules communications so this is a time of gathering information rather than actually discussing much because often times both parties will experience misunderstandings.  If Mercury is your ruling planet (either Gemini or Virgo) you will have a hard time adequately expressing yourself this month and may want to take it easy.

January is always a new start, plant your seeds, release the last year’s worth of crap and move on.  From September to December each year we are given a transition time to revisit our work and our plans and get ready for the New Year’s offerings.  Plant your seeds, follow-through, revisit the drawing board and re-evaluate the information you have.  Try to save decision making for another month, unless it was something already in the works, but should you not have the option of waiting, be aware that new information (and delays/confusion/misunderstandings) may be afoot in the coming months, but much of this will be resolved in the next Mercury Rx (and completely healed/culminated by 3 cycles of Rx–which is about 1 year’s time).

Soak up this creative and transformative energy and release the negative of the past, make way for the new and improved!  Experience creativity and swelling with ideas, pick up an old hobby and sing and dance this year!   This is your time to shine!  May every day of your New Year be special, filled with health, happiness, strength and love.  Remember that you decide what to focus your attention on and the more you focus on worries the more wonderful things will pass you by.  Take each day by the reigns and live the life you desire! 

 

One way I might suggest to use this fantastic releasing energy is to write a list of negative things you wish to leave behind (traits, habits, fears, happenings, worries, etc.)  and burn it, bury it whichever method you wish to release those things, and then write a new list of positive things you wish to bring into your life (love, happiness, career, etc.–don’t be afraid to be specific!) and keep it somewhere special.  Watch your heart’s desires flourish this year!
